Kenya: Nine people die in Nakuru-Eldoret highway crash

NAIROBI, Feb 18 (NNN-KBC) — Nine people have died in a tragic road accident along Nakuru- Eldoret highway.

Seven of them are said to have died on the spot while two others succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment at Eldama Ravine and Moi teaching and referral hospital.

The 1 a.m accident occurred after a bus collided head-on with a trailer. 

The morning accident that claimed the lives of nine people join 182 others who have so far lost their lives to road accidents since the year began.

The latest accident occurring along Nakuru-Eldoret highway at Kamara and with it nine innocent lives were lost.t

The accident involved a bus christened Greenline which was heading to Nairobi and a trailer that was heading the opposite direction is said to have occurred around 1 am today.

Those injured were rushed to Eldama ravine hospital while the seven bodies were taken to Molo Sub County mortuary.

All bodies were retrieved from the wrecked vehicles and the scene of the accident cleared by around 4 a.m Sunday morning.

Recently, the Cabinet Secretary for interior Fred Matiangi introduced tough reforms at NTSA promising the country that his team is working to ensure a reduction by half of the number of deaths on Kenyan roads. — NNN-KBC
