ANKARA, Sept 12 (NNN-ANADOLU) – Turkey yesterday imposed mandatory quarantine in dormitories and hostels, for COVID-19 patients, who violate home-based self-isolation measures.
It will also apply to those who do not have conditions for quarantine, according to a circular issued by the Turkish interior ministry.
The move came, after the COVID-19 cases in Turkey saw a rapid increase, and the authorities have determined some patients ignoring self-isolation rules, attending crowded social events.
Turkey confirmed 1,671 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, raising the total diagnosed patients to 288,126, the Turkish Health Ministry announced.
Meanwhile, 56 people died in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 6,951, according to the data shared by the ministry.
A total of 1,117 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, raising the total recoveries to 256,524, since the outbreak.
The rate of pneumonia in COVID-19 patients is 7.3 percent and the number of seriously ill patients is 1,223.
