Singapore sees 87 new COVID-19 cases, 14 imported

SINGAPORE, Sept 11 (NNN-BERNAMA) — Singapore has preliminarily confirmed an additional 87 new cases of COVID-19 infection in the past 24 hours, with 14 being imported cases.

In its brief data released here today, the republic’s Ministry of Health (MOH) said all the imported cases involved those placed on Stay-Home Notice upon arrival in Singapore.

The ministry said there were no cases in the community while the rest were cases residing in dormitories.

With the latest developments, it takes the total number of infections in the republic to 57,316.

In the full data released late yesterday, the republic classified 960 of the reported cases as imported, 2,233 as community cases and 54,036 involving dorm residents.

A total of 56,558 patients have fully recovered from the infection and 47 confirmed cases remain in hospital, but none in the intensive care unit.

Meanwhile, 597 patients who have mild symptoms or clinically well but still tested positive for COVID-19, have been isolated and are being cared for at community facilities.

To date, 27 people have died from complications due to COVID-19 in the republic. 

Two new clusters were identified yesterday at Avery Lodge Dormitory of 2D Jalan Papan; and PPT Lodge 1A of 8 Seletar North Link.
