Eversendai sets world record with One Za’abeel building in Dubai

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 9 (NNN-BERNAMA) — Eversendai Corporation Bhd has created a world record and landmark feat in the construction industry with One Za’abeel, an iconic high-rise mixed-use luxury development in Dubai.

Executive chairman and group managing director Tan Sri AK Nathan said the impressive structure put in place twin high-rise buildings — a 300-metre tall Tower A housing offices and the world’s first vertical resort, and a 235-metre Tower B oriented towards the residential units.

He said the two towers are linked at 125 metres in the air by ‘The ‘Link’, a 9,000-tonne bridge using 230-metre long steel structure that would top the list of engineering marvels and is set to break the world record for the longest cantilevered building in the world.

“Eversendai is Malaysia’s pride and we are proud to fly the Jalur Gemilang high by being a part of setting the world record for the longest cantilevered building in the world,” he said in a statement today.

He said a 192-metre long first section of the Link had been lifted to its final position at 100 metres above the ground level a few weeks ago.

“The lift, one of the heaviest in the Middle East with a total weight of 8,500 tonnes was carried out over a period of three days,” he said.

The second lift to complete the Link structure to reach its final length of 230 metres would take place later this year.

Eversendai was involved in various iconic landmark structures including 16 Collyer Quay, Chevron House, Republic Plaza, and the State Court building in Singapore, as well as the Petronas Twin Tower 2 and Merdeka PNB 118 in Malaysia.
