Iran Builds New Centrifuge Hall Near Natanz After July Blast

TEHRAN, Sept 9 (NNN-TASNIM) – Iran’s chief nuclear official, Ali Akbar Salehi, said that, a new and more modern centrifuge hall is under construction, in the mountainous areas near Natanz, after the July 2 explosion.

“It has been decided to establish a more modern, vaster and more comprehensive hall, in all aspects, in the heart of the mountains near Natanz, and this has already started,” Salehi said, as quoted by semi-official Fars news agency.

Talking on the sidelines of a briefing session at the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, the Head of the Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran (AEOI), explained, the July 2 explosion occurred in a special hall for advanced centrifuges.

On July 2, the AEOI announced, an “incident” occurred at an industrial shed under construction in Natanz, without causing casualties or disrupting ongoing activity in the facilities.

Later in Aug, AEOI reported that, Iran’s security services concluded, the explosion in Natanz was a “sabotage act.”– NNN-TASNIM
