HONG KONG, Sept 7 (NNN-XINHUA) – Asia-Pacific countries reported more COVID-19 cases, as India announced record high one-day spike.
The COVID-19 pandemic situation continues to peak in India, as the highest single-day spike of 90,632 new cases, and 1,065 deaths, were registered from across the country, according to the latest data, released by the federal health ministry.
The country’s tally rose to 4,113,811, as the total deaths surged to 70,626. Still, there are 862,320 active cases in the country, while 3,180,865 people have been cured and discharged from hospitals.
The number of confirmed cases in the Philippines surged to 237,365, after the country’s Department of Health (DOH) reported 2,839 new daily cases yesterday.
The DOH said that the number of recoveries also surged to 184,687, after it reported 23,074 more patients having survived the disease. It added that, 85 more patients have died from the disease, bringing the death toll to 3,875.
In Indonesia, the total cases rose by 3,444 within one day to 194,109, with the death toll adding by 85 to 8,025, the health ministry said.
According to the ministry, 2,174 more people were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 138,575.
Bangladesh reported 1,592 new cases and 32 new deaths, making the tally at 325,157 and the death toll at 4,479, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said.
The official data showed that 11,354 samples were tested in the last 24 hours across Bangladesh. The total number of recovered patients in the country stood at 221,275, including 3,423 new recoveries yesterday.
South Korea reported 167 more cases as of midnight, compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 21,177. Of the new cases, 63 were Seoul residents and 45 were residing in Gyeonggi.
Fifteen were imported, lifting the combined figure to 2,892. One more death was confirmed, leaving the death toll at 334. The total fatality rate stood at 1.58 percent.– NNN-XINHUA
