Singapore Reports 40 New COVID-19 Cases

SINGAPORE, Sept 2 (NNN-CNA) – Singapore’s Ministry of Health (MOH), reported 40 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, bringing the total confirmed cases in the country to 56,852.

Of the new cases, seven are imported cases, one is a community case and the rest are linked with the dormitories of foreign workers.

Of the new cases, 98 percent are imported or linked to known cases or clusters, while the rest are pending contact tracing. Amongst the new cases, 37 are asymptomatic, and were detected from proactive screening and surveillance, while three were symptomatic.

Yesterday, 91 more cases have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities. In all, 55,749 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged, the ministry said.

There are currently 86 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and none is in critical condition.

Furthermore, 990 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19.

Altogether 27 people have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection.– NNN-CNA
