S. Korea Reports 235 More COVID-19 Cases, 20,182 In Total

SEOUL, Sept 1 (NNN-YONHAP) – South Korea reported 235 more cases of the COVID-19, as of midnight Tuesday, local time, compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 20,182.

The daily caseload stayed below 300 for three days, but it continued to grow in triple digits since Aug 14.

The number of confirmed cases for the past 19 days reached 5,412, owing to infections in Seoul and its surrounding Gyeonggi province, linked to church services of Sarang Jeil Church in Seoul, and a massive rally held in central Seoul on Aug 15.

Of the new cases, 93 were Seoul residents and 60 were people residing in Gyeonggi province.

Thirteen were imported from overseas, lifting the combined figure to 2,836.

No more death was reported, leaving the death toll at 324. The total fatality rate stood at 1.61 percent.

225 more patients were discharged from quarantine, pulling up the combined number to 15,198. The total recovery rate was 75.30 percent.

Since Jan 3, the country tested more than 1.95 million people, of whom 1,882,155 tested negative and 56,743 are being checked.– NNN-YONHAP
