YANGON, Aug 30 (NNN-MNA) – The total number of COVID-19 cases in Myanmar increased to 749 as of this morning, according to a release from the Ministry of Health and Sports.
A total of 16 new COVID-19 confirmed cases, including 10 local transmission cases and six imported cases, were reported on Sunday Morning.
Myanmar detected new local transmission again on Aug 16, since its local case was last reported on July 16.
Rakhine state has been seeing an increasing number of local cases since Aug 16, and all townships of the state are now under the stay-at-home order, as part of measures to curb the spread of the disease.
A total of 156,042 samples have been tested so far, and 7,518 patients were under investigation as of Saturday, the ministry’s figures showed.
According to the ministry, 351 patients recovered from the disease so far.
Myanmar recorded its first two positive cases of COVID-19 on Mar 23, with six deaths being reported so far.– NNN-MNA
