BANGKOK, Aug 29 (NNN-TNA) – Thailand’s Narcotics Suppression Bureau, yesterday said that, a joint police-military unit had uncovered and seized 1,385 kg of crystal methamphetamine, 500 kg of ketamine, and 77 kg of heroin, with a total estimated value of 1.6 million baht (51,437 U.S. dollars) at Thailand’s Western Province of Kanchanaburi.
The bureau said, since the seizure had been fresh and investigations were still underway, it is not in a position to disclose information, until the ring leaders are arrested.
The seizure was made after a 12-wheel truck sped through a checkpoint in Kanchanaburi Province. Authorities manning the checkpoint chased after the truck and searched inside the vehicle, to find massive illicit drugs hidden in a compartment in the floor of the truck.
The truck driver has been detained for questioning.– NNN-TNA
