KATHMANDU, Aug 24 (NNN-NEPALNEWS) – Almost all economic, social and religious activities in 48 districts out of 77 districts of Nepal, have been restricted, as the Himalayan country is witnessing a rapid resurgence of COVID-19 cases, Nepal’s Ministry of Home Affairs said.
“Chief District Officers issued prohibitory orders in 48 districts, including the districts of Kathmandu Valley, the capital city,” the ministry said.
Although the Nepali government ended the nearly four-month lock-down on July 22, resurgence in the COVID-19 cases after the lock-down was lifted forced the government to take restrictive measures once again.
“The restrictive measures are aimed at controlling people’s movement, which is the main reason behind the spread of COVID-19 cases,” spokesperson at the home ministry, Chakra Bahadur Buda, said.
“Vehicle movement, except for essential goods and services, has been suspended, shops, except that of essential goods, have also been closed and religious activities that attract large mass have also been suspended.”
The COVID-19 cases in the Himalayan country reached 31,935, with the addition of 818 new cases yesterday, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.– NNN-NEPALNEWS
