KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 20 (NNN-BERNAMA) — A total of 14,048 individuals have returned to Malaysia through the international border entrance and placed under quarantine at 67 hotels and five public training institutes (ILA) since last July 24 until yesterday.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said of the total, 43 individuals were sent to hospital for treatment and 6,316 individuals had been discharged and allowed to return home.
They arrived from 32 countries, including the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Singapore, Vietnam, Brunei, Qatar, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, India, United Arab Emirates, Japan, Turkey, South Korea, Iran, Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Timor Leste, Taiwan, China, United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Papua New Guinea, Egypt, Spain, France, Australia, New Zealand and the United States of America, he said in a statement on the development of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) today.
He said the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) conducted 380 inspections yesterday on individuals undergoing the 14-day mandatory quarantine at their respective homes and found that they complied with the prescribed standard operating procedures (SOP).
Meanwhile, the PDRM-led compliance operation task force conducted 67,369 inspections yesterday and arrested 117 individuals for defying the RMCO regulations.

Ismail Sabri said of the total who were arrested, 91 of them were compounded and 26 held in remand for offences including not wearing face mask and participating in activities involving the presence of crowds which made social distancing difficult.
On Operasi Benteng, he said the PDRM held 64 roadblocks and inspected 25,333 vehicles yesterday to curb the entry of illegal immigrants, especially through rat lanes, but no arrest was made.
He said 10 public sanitation operations were also carried out yesterday in Sabah, Sarawak, Melaka, Perak and Kedah.
Ismail Sabri, who is also Defence Minister, said the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry conducted checks on the supply of 12 types of goods at 720 business premises yesterday, namely retailers (t (506), wholesalers (184) and manufacturers (30), and the supply was found adequate.
