Thai Authorities Discover Three Dead Bodies Of Insurgents In Rice Field

BANGKOK, Aug 18 (NNN-TNA) – Thai authorities found bodies of three suspected insurgents in a rice field, in Thailand’s restive southern province of Pattani, said Maj. Gen. Pramote Phrom-in, spokesman of the Fourth Army Area’s Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) centre.

Pramote said that, army troops combed through a rice field in Pattani Province, and found the bodies of three suspected insurgents, apparently killed in clashes which began on Friday.

So far a total of seven insurgents have been killed by the army during the intermittent shoot-outs in the woods, where they had been holed up and resisted arrest, according to Maj. Gen. Pramote.

The ISOC spokesman said that forensic officers had taken fingerprints from the three bodies for identification.

Assault rifles seized from the clash sites are also being checked, to find out where and when they had been used to commit crimes.

The insurgents, according to Pramote, were responsible for Thursday’s bomb attacks in Nong Chik district of Pattani and Ra-ngae district of Narathiwat, in which two army-trained rangers were killed and three others wounded.– NNN-TNA
