KABUL, Aug 17 (NNN-AGENCIES) – Afghan forces beat back Taliban militants’ attack on Siagurd district, of the eastern Parwan province today, forcing the attackers to flee, after leaving three bodies behind, a statement of the provincial police said.
The armed insurgents, according to the statement, launched a massive offensive on security checkpoints in Siagurd early today, to overrun the district headquarters, but failed after suffering casualties and leaving three bodies behind.
Four more militants were injured in the firefight, which lasted for a few hours, the statement said, without hinting at possible casualties of the security personnel.
The Taliban outfit, which has stepped up activities, has yet to make comments.– NNN-AGENCIES
