HANOI, Aug 11 (NNN-VNA) – Vietnam will hold a two-day state funeral for Le Kha Phieu, former general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC), who passed away on Aug 7, at the age of 89.
During the state funeral on Friday and Saturday, national flags will be flown at half-mast at offices and public places, and recreational and entertainment activities will be suspended.
The respect-paying ceremony, the memorial service and the burial ceremony will be held in the capital city of Hanoi, said the report.
Phieu passed away in Hanoi after a long illness, Vietnam’s Central Commission of Health Care for Senior Officials, said.
Phieu was the general secretary of the CPVCC from Dec, 1997 to Apr, 2001.– NNN-VNA
