BAGHDAD, Aug 11 (NNN-NINA) – A bomb was detonated near an Iraqi border crossing with neighbouring Kuwait in southern Iraq, with casualties unclear yet, an Iraqi security source said yesterday.
The blast took place late last night, near Jraischan crossing point with Kuwait, the source said, on condition of anonymity.
There is no immediate information about the attack, the source said.
However, media reports said, the blast targeted a convoy of trucks carrying logistical equipment belonging to the U.S.-led coalition forces in southern Iraq.
No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack, but unidentified militant groups, frequently targeted U.S.-led coalition convoys, which usually travel from neighbouring Kuwait to the coalition bases in central and northern Iraq.
More than 5,000 U.S. troops are deployed in Iraq to support the Iraqi forces in the battles against the Daesh militants, mainly providing training and advising the Iraqi forces.– NNN-NINA
