Three Policemen Missing As Patrol Boat Sinks In Indonesia’s North Kalimantan

JAKARTA, Aug 10 (NNN-ANTARA) – Three policemen went missing, as a patrol boat sank in the Pulau Tibi waters, in Indonesia’s North Kalimantan province’s district of Tanah Tidung, local media reported yesterday.

The accident occurred during bad weather on Saturday evening, when six policemen were conducting a patrol, on the Pulau Tibi waters, Chief of the Waters and Air Police Corps of the Indonesian Police, Inspector General, Lotharia Latif, told Detiknews, yesterday.

At 11:00 p.m. local time on Saturday, the weather started to deteriorate, and at midnight until 6:30 a.m. Sunday (yesterday), the boat named Kepodang-5001, lost contact.

The police later managed to contact one of the six personnel onboard, who informed their condition, Latif said.

A police team then rushed to the scene and was able to rescue three policemen, while three others remained missing, he said, adding, the three rescued policemen were in good conditions.

The search and rescue team is searching for the three missing personnel today.– NNN-ANTARA
