TEHRAN, Iran, Feb 14 (NNN-IRNA) – At least 23 members of the security forces were killed, in a suicide attack in Iran’s south-eastern Sistan and Baluchestan province on Wednesday, said a statement by Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).
In the terrorist attack, 17 others were injured, the statement was quoted as saying, by semi-official ISNA news agency.
A car loaded with explosives was blasted near the bus carrying a unit of IRGC’s Quds Force, which led to the causalities, the statement said.
The attack targeted personnel of the IRGC in Chanali area, on Khash-Zahedan road in Sistan and Baluchestan province.
The IRGC statement blamed intelligent agency of Israel for being behind the Wednesday attack.
According to local reports, the Jaish al-Adl rebel group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Jaish al-Adl, which claims it is fighting for the rights of the majority of Sunni people in Sistan and Baluchestan province, has so far claimed responsibility for a number of deadly terrorist attacks and abductions of Iranian security forces in the region.– NNN-IRNA
