ULAN BATOR, July 29 (NNN-MONGOLIAWEB) – Mongolia will send at least 14 chartered flights in Aug, to evacuate nationals stranded abroad due to COVID-19, the country’s foreign ministry said yesterday.
“Our country is planning to send at least 14 special flights to COVID-19-hit countries, such as South Korea, the Unites States, India, the Czech Republic, Turkey and Australia next month, to repatriate more than 3,400 nationals,” Lkhanaajav Munkhtushig, director general of the consular department of the ministry, told a news conference.
Since the COVID-19 outbreak, Mongolia has evacuated more than 14,700 nationals by chartered flights, buses or trains, from different parts of the world.
The Asian country has confirmed 289 COVID-19 cases so far, with no local transmissions or deaths.– NNN-MONGOLIAWEB
