KOTA KINABALU, July 28 (NNN-BERNAMA) — Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal reminded the people in the state today to not use the differences in their race, culture, religion or skin color as a hindrance to strengthen the existing unity.
He said the people should look for common ground and noble values to maintain the existing unity and harmony for the benefit of the future generation.
Mohd Shafie said the country’s past freedom fighters had sacrificed a lot and mobilised all their energy to free the beloved country from colonialism to ensure a better future for the present Malaysian generation.
“Therefore, it is important for today’s generation to continue the noble struggle of the past freedom fighters by continuing to nurture love for the country. We need to strengthen our country with good values, not only through shouts, but also by practising them.
“We need to contribute and serve the country … We lead and develop the country not only for today’s generation, but also for the future generation, so that they too will benefit greatly from what we are fighting for now,” he said when launching the state-level 2020 National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang campaign here today.
