CAIRO, July 28 (NNN-MENA) – Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, and his Saudi counterpart, Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, stressed here yesterday, the importance of reaching a political settlement in Libya.
In a joint televised press conference, Shoukry highlighted that, “Egypt aims at reaching a ceasefire in Libya and seeks its stability.”
“Some international sides target Arab national security in Libya, Syria, and Iraq, by sending extremists and terrorist elements,” he said, adding, Egypt experienced some terrorist operations after the transfer of militants through the borders.
The top diplomats reiterated the necessity of forming a presidential council with a government that could meet the demands of the Libyan people under the supervision of the Libyan parliament.
The Saudi foreign minister voiced his country’s support of the Cairo Declaration, which was announced on June 6, and sought ceasefire between warring Libyan parties, and UN-supervised election of a Libyan presidential council, and drafting a constitutional declaration to regulate elections for the later stage.– NNN-TASS
