Jordan Orders Closure Of Teachers Association For Two Years

AMMAN, July 26 (NNN-PETRA) – Amman Prosecutor General, Hassan Abdallat, on Saturday, ordered a closure of the Jordan Teachers Association (JTA) and its branches, for two years.

He also relieved members of the JTA’s council and central commission from their duties, over criminal and corruption charges.

The Prosecutor General, said that, the lawsuits against the JTA council include a case related to financial violations. Another case is related to decisions issued by the JTA council, which went viral on social media and included provocative procedures and incitement.

The third case is related to controversial videos that went viral on social media, purportedly showing the JTA deputy president, issuing some remarks for incitement.

The JTA has more than 100,000 members.– NNN-PETRA
