Covid-19: Bangladesh made mandatory use of mask for containing coronavirus

DHAKA, July 22 (NNN-BSS) — The government has made mask using mandatory for all living in Bangladesh to halt transmission of COVID-19.

A notification, signed by Shibbir Ahmed Osmany, deputy secretary of Health Services Division, said all levels of people including officials, employees, rickshaw pullers and transport works, passengers and pedestrians must use face masks as part of preventive measures for containing the deadly virus.

The notification has been sent to secretaries of all ministries and director general of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) to make use of face mask mandatory for all officials, employees as well as service receivers.

The law enforcement agencies have been asked to implement the directive of using masks to stem the spread of coronavirus in the country.

All public and private hospital authorities have to ensure mask use for both healthcare professionals and medical service seekers.

Devotees of different faiths must use masks at their respective worship places, the notification said adding, local administration and relevant managing committee have to enforce official order of using face mask.

Mask use also has been made mandatory at shopping malls, business establishments and other market places to supplement the efforts of stopping the spread of lethal virus. The notification asked local authorities and relevant organizations to strictly implement the use of mask.

People from all walks of life have been asked to use masks at crowded places and social gatherings to avert the spread of COVID-19.

The World Health Organization (WHO) continued their preventive campaign giving highest emphasis on using face mask as it has been proven as the best way for prevention of the pandemic.

Bangladesh had 210,510 confirmed coronavirus cases as of Tuesday, with 2,709 deaths and 115,397 recoveries. — NNN-AGENCIES
