Pakistani PM Performs Groundbreaking Of Business Park To Boost Industrialisation

ISLAMABAD, July 19 (NNN-APP) – Pakistani Prime Minister, Imran Khan, on Saturday evening, performed the groundbreaking of the Quaid-e-Azam Business Park, as the government plans to boost industrialisation and create jobs, a statement said.

According to the statement from the government of the country’s eastern Punjab province, the prime minister broke the ground on the business park as a smart, special economic zone during a ceremony held in Lahore, the provincial capital of Punjab.

The business park with a total planned area of 1,536 acres is being established near the express highway M-2 in Sheikhupura, a neighboring district of Lahore. Initially, the economic zone was planned only for garments factories, but now it will host industries of multiple sectors.

On the occasion, Khan said the park would play a crucial role in Pakistan’s development by generating revenue, enhancing business activities in the country and creating over 500,000 direct and indirect jobs.

The prime minister said several Chinese companies have already contacted the government and expressed keen interest in investing in diverse sectors across Pakistan, and the government is simplifying official procedures to help them start businesses.

“I hope that Quaid-e-Azam Business Park will emerge as an epicenter of new economic avenues and prospects for the Chinese companies,” said the prime minister, vowing to make Pakistan a business-friendly country with maximum ease of doing business.

The prime minister said his government is facilitating business activities and removing all impediments in the development of industrial sectors by bringing reforms in government institutions.

Addressing the ceremony, Chief Minister of Punjab Usman Buzdar said 653 industrial units will be set up in the park, adding that foreign and local companies will be facilitated with a one-window operation to start a business in the zone.
