SINGAPORE, June 22 (NNN-Bernama) — Singapore confirmed 218 new cases of COVID-19 infection in the last 24 hours, bringing the island state’s infection tally to 42,313 cases.
“Based on our investigations so far, there is one case in the community who is a work pass holder. There are no Singaporean or permanent resident cases.
According to brief data released at noon here today, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said the vast majority of cases were work permit holders living in foreign worker dormitories.
In its full data released late Sunday, Singapore classified 1,823 as community cases, 581 as imported cases and 39,691 as foreign workers in dorms.
As at noon Sunday, 34,942 or about 83 per cent of the total number of patients had fully recovered and been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.
There were 179 confirmed cases still in hospital on Sunday, with one in critical condition in the intensive care unit, said the ministry.
It added that 6,948 who had mild symptoms or are clinically well but still tested positive for COVID-19 have been isolated and cared for at community facilities.
So far, 26 people have died in the city-state from complications due to COVID-19, with the first two cases reported on March 21.
A new cluster was identified Sunday, a dormitory at 242 Woodlands Industrial Park E5.
Meanwhile, four additional cases were linked to the republic’s largest cluster, S11 Dormitory @ Punggol, which has a total of 2,774 confirmed cases.
