Five Killed In Taliban Attack In N. Afghanistan: Official

PUL-E-KHUMRI, Afghanistan, June 21 (NNN-AGENCIES) – Three police officers and two Taliban militants were killed and 16 people wounded, in a Taliban attack on a district police station in Afghanistan’s northern province of Baghlan, Saturday night, a local official confirmed today.

“A batch of Taliban militants stormed Nahrin district police station, in eastern Pul-e-Khumri, capital of Baghlan. Eleven Afghan national police and Afghan local police members and five militants were wounded during the clashes,” Nahrin district chief, Fazluddin Muradi, said.

The injured police personnel were shifted to hospitals early today.

The attackers came by motorcycles from nearby mountains and fled before dawn.– NNN-AGENCIES
