SINGAPORE, June 17 (NNN-BERNAMA) — Singapore has preliminarily confirmed an additional 247 cases of COVID-19 infection in the last 24 hours, with the vast majority being migrant workers residing in dormitories.
With the latest infection figure, the tally now stands at 41,216 cases.
Based on its investigations so far, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said in a statement that there were only five infections in the community, involving two Singaporeans or permanent residents and three work pass holders.
In full data released late yesterday, Singapore classified 1,801 as community cases, 581 as imported cases and 38,587 as foreign workers in dorms.
As at noon yesterday, 31,163 or about 76 per cent of the total number of patients have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.
There were 269 confirmed cases still in hospital yesterday with two in critical condition in the intensive care unit, said the ministry.
It noted that 9,511 who have mild symptoms or clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19 have been isolated and cared for at community facilities.
So far, 26 have died from complications due to COVID-19 infection.
There were no new clusters identified yesterday.
