5.8-Magnitude Quake Hits India’s Western State

NEW DELHI, June 15 (NNN-UNI) – An earthquake of magnitude 5.8, struck 122 km north-northwest of Rajkot, in India’s western state of Gujarat, at 8:13 p.m. local time on Sunday, said the National Centre for Seismology (NCS).

The epicentre was believed to be in Kutch area of the state.

So far, there are no reports of loss of human life or damage to property.

State Chief Minister, Vijay Rupani, had an immediate telephone conversation with senior officials of Rajkot, Kutch and Patan districts, following the tremor and got information about the situation there, said his office.– NNN-UNI
