HANOI, June 11 (NNN-VNA) – Whirlwind has caused a wood workshop in Vietnam’s northern Vinh Phuc province to collapse, killing three people and injuring some 20 others, it was reported today.
The whirlwind came right after the rain on Wednesday afternoon and was so strong that it collapsed the workshop of a timber company, according to news agency.
More than 100 workers were working in the workshop as the accident occurred, the news agency cited local authorities as reporting, noting that, heavy rain made it difficult to reach the scene and rescue victims.
In the first five months of 2020, natural disasters in Vietnam claimed 24 deaths, injured 96 people and caused a total value of property damage of four trillion Vietnamese dong (nearly 174 million U.S. dollars), according to the country’s General Statistics Office.– NNN-VNA
