SINGAPORE, June 9 (Bernama) — Singapore has reported 218 new cases of COVID-19 as at noon Tuesday, with the majority still involving foreign workers at dormitories, thus raising the tally to 38,514.

Of the 218 cases, only six were from the community and all are work pass holders, said the republic’s Ministry of Health (MOH) in a statement here.

There were no new cases involving Singaporeans or permanent residents, it said.

In full data released late Monday, Singapore classified 1,745 as community cases, 580 as imported cases and 35,971 as foreign workers residing in dorms.

In total, 25,368 cases of COVID-19, or about 66 per cent of yesterday’s tally of 38,296, have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities.

As of Monday, there were 269 confirmed cases that were still in hospital, with four patients in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

Meanwhile, 12,634 cases who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well, but still tested positive for COVID-19 are isolated and being cared for at community facilities.

Thus far, 25 have died from complications due to COVID-19 infection in the republic.

Four new clusters were identified yesterday, involving dormitories at 216 Tagore Lane, 9B Tech Park Crescent, 16 Tech Park Crescent, and 115 Tuas View Walk 1.
