Iran Condemns U.S. Revoke Of Nuke-Related Sanctions Waivers

TEHRAN, May 31 (NNN-IRNA) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned the recent U.S. decision to end the sanctions waivers under the 2015 Iranian nuclear deal.

The U.S. move, to end the remaining sanctions waivers under the landmark deal is a “violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2231” which endorses the deal, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Abbas Mousavi, said.

Iran will take necessary legal measures, in case the U.S. decision adversely affects Iran’s nuclear rights under the accord, internationally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

U.S. Secretary of State, Michael Pompeo, announced earlier in a statement, the end of sanctions waivers covering nuclear projects in Iran, including the Arak reactor conversion, following a final, 60-day wind-down period.– NNN-IRNA
