TEHRAN, May 30 (NNN-TASNIM) – Iran’ new parliament speaker, called for boosting cooperation between the Islamic republic and Turkey in diverse areas.
Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf made the remarks, in a telephone conversation with Turkish Parliament Speaker, Mustafa Sentop.
Qalibaf stressed the importance of cooperation between Iran and Turkey, in ensuring sustainable peace and security in the region.
He also underlined the significance of promoting economic cooperation between Tehran and Ankara, saying, the new Iran parliament intends to establish Iran-Turkey friendship group “soon.”
He also noted that trilateral negotiations among Iran, Turkey and Russia will help the progress of peace in Syria.
For his part, Sentop expressed the Turkish parliament’s readiness to boost political, economic, cultural and parliamentary ties with Iran.
The Turkish speaker rebuffed the U.S. sanctions against Iran, and invited Qalibaf to pay an official visit to Turkey.
Iranian lawmakers, on Thursday, elected Qalibaf, a former mayor of Iran’s capital Tehran, as the new speaker of parliament.– NNN-TASNIM
