Iran’s Confirmed COVID-19 Cases Hit 146,668

TEHRAN, May 30 (NNN-IRNA) – The Iranian health ministry reported 2,819 new cases of the COVID-19, bringing the total number in the country to 146,668, state TV reported.

Kianush Jahanpur, head of Public Relations and Information Centre of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, said, 50 patients died over the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 7,677.

Jahanpur updated the number of recoveries to 114,931, adding that, 2,547 others are still under intense care in hospitals.

The number of lab tests administered across the country stands at 896,571, as of Friday.

Iran announced its first cases of COVID-19 on Feb 19.

Iran and China have offered mutual help in combating the COVID-19 pandemic.

In mid-Feb, at the early stage of the virus outbreak in China, Iran lit up the Tehran Azadi (Liberty) Tower, to show its solidarity with China, and donated three million masks to China.

In return, China delivered several shipments of medical supplies to Iran. On Feb 29, a five-member Chinese medical team visited Iran, for a month-long mission to help Iran fight the pandemic.– NNN-IRNA
