Singapore Reports 793 COVID-19 Cases

SINGAPORE, May 16 (NNN-CNA) – Singapore’s Ministry of Health (MOH) reported 793 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, bringing the total confirmed cases in the country to 26,891.

Of the newly confirmed cases, one was a case in the community, one was a work permit holder, residing outside dormitories, and 791 were work permit holders residing in dormitories. There were no imported cases.

Of the new cases, 99 percent are linked to known clusters, while the rest are pending contact tracing.

Furthermore, 1,275 more cases of COVID-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities. In all, 7,248 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities, the ministry said.

There are currently 1,124 confirmed cases, who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and 18 are in critical condition in intensive care unit. Altogether 21 have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection.– NNN-CNA
