Singapore Reports 675 COVID-19 Cases

SINGAPORE, May 14 (NNN-CNA) – Singapore’s Ministry of Health (MOH) reported 675 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, bringing the total confirmed cases in the country to 25,346.

Of the newly confirmed cases, four were cases in the community, two were work permit holders, residing outside dormitories, and 671 were work permit holders residing in dormitories.

A total of 958 more cases have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities. In all, 4,809 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged, the ministry said.

There are currently 1,037 confirmed cases, who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, 19 are in critical condition in the intensive care unit, and 19,479 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for the COVID-19. A total of 21 have passed away from complications due to the COVID-19 infection.

Of the new cases, 99 percent are linked to known clusters, while the rest are pending contact tracing.

The number of new cases in the community has decreased, from an average of eight cases per day in the week before, to an average of six per day in the past week. The number of un-linked cases in the community has also decreased, from an average of three cases per day in the week before, to an average of two per day in the past week.

The number of new cases amongst Work Permit holders residing outside dormitories has decreased, from an average of six cases per day in the week before, to an average of four per day in the past week.– NNN-CNA
