Maharashtra Becomes First Indian State To Surpass 20,000-Mark Of COVID-19 Cases

MUMBAI, May 10 (NNN-PTI) – India’s western state of Maharashtra, crossed the 20,000-mark of COVID-19 cases, ahead of all states in the country, as per the official update on Saturday evening.

By adding over 1,000 new cases for the fourth consecutive day on Saturday, Saturday’s 1,165 new cases took the tally of COVID-19 cases to 20,228, with 779 deaths so far in the state.

Of the 48 deaths reported on Saturday, 27 were from Mumbai, the political capital of Maharashtra.

During the day, Asia’s largest slum, located in Mumbai, reported 25 new cases, taking the tally within the slum to 833, with 27 deaths so far.

As per the official update on Saturday evening (last night), India has registered 39,834 active cases of the virus, with 1,981 deaths.– NNN-PTI
