Singapore Reports 932 New COVID-19 Cases

SINGAPORE, May 2 (NNN-CNA) – Singapore’s Ministry of Health (MOH) reported 932 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, bringing the total confirmed cases in the country to 17,101.

Of the newly confirmed cases, 11 were cases in the community, 16 were work permit holders, residing outside dormitories, and 905 were work permit holders residing in dormitories. There were no imported cases.

During the past day, 24 patients have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities. In all, 1,268 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged, the ministry said.

Of the new cases, 70 percent are linked to known clusters, while the rest are pending contact tracing.

There are currently 1,764 confirmed cases, who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and 23 are in critical condition in intensive care unit.

Another 14,053 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19.

A 60-year-old male Singapore citizen passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection on Friday, bringing the total of such deaths to 16.– NNN-CNA
