ABUJA, Nigeria, Feb 5 (NNN-XINHUA) – A Nigerian female politician and former presidential candidate of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN), has debunked allegations that her withdrawal was a scheme to negotiate for a ministerial position.
Oby Ezekwesili, a former minister of education, made the denial at a news conference in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, saying that, she ran a promising campaign for the good of the country and all citizens.
The former ACPN presidential candidate also denied allegations that she raised and looted campaign donations meant for the presidential race and described it as morally bankrupt politics.
The withdrawal of Ezekwesili, a two-time minister and former vice president for Africa, at the World Bank, leaves incumbent President, Muhammadu Buhari, and former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, as the main contenders for the election, slated for Feb 16.
Nigeria will hold its general elections on Feb 16, to elect the president and national assembly members, and on Mar 2, to elect state governors and state houses of assembly members.– NNN-XINHUA
