KUALA LUMPUR, April 21 (Bernama) — Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) has organised an online Public Consultation on First Virtual Technical Design Reference for Disaster Preparedness in Setting Up New High-Rise Private Hospital. This virtual reference was initiated from the focus group workshop attended by the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the technical agencies from the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (BOMBA), Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM) held on 14 to 16 December 2018 in Penang. The focus group has identified some critical aspects that emphasise on the technical specifications that include safety & disaster management systems and permits approval for high-rise hospitals buildings.
According to Dato’ Dr. Jacob Thomas, Champion, Private Healthcare Productivity Nexus, “Trends towards urbanisation, the scarcity of land is one of the business’s concern on health facility developments and re development for better utilization of space. High-rise hospitals are not a new concept in the world including, to address space constraints, optimise efficiency and improve patient care.
