MOSCOW, Apr 20 (NNN-TASS) – Russia registered a new daily record of 6,060 COVID-19 cases over the last 24 hours, raising the total number to 42,853 as of Sunday, official data showed.
The death toll climbed to 361 from 313 the previous day, while 3,291 people have recovered, including 234 in the past 24 hours, Russia’s COVID-19 response centre said in a statement.
Moscow, the worst-hit city across the country, confirmed 3,570 new cases over the last 24 hours, totaling 24,324 cases.
Russia announced its first two COVID-19 cases on Jan 31, with cases increasing significantly since the end of Mar. The total number topped 10,000 on Apr 9, 20,000 on Tuesday and 30,000 on Friday.
President Vladimir Putin announced that, the Victory Day parade on May 9, celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany, was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.– NNN-TASS
