Indonesia’s COVID-19 Death Toll Surpasses 500, Confirmed Cases Reach 5,923

JAKARTA, Apr 18 (NNN-XINHUA) – The Indonesian government reported 24 new deaths of COVID-19 on Friday, raising the total fatalities in the country to 520, the highest in Southeast Asia.

At a press conference, the government’s spokesperson for the COVID-19-related matters, Achmad Yurianto, said that, there were 407 new confirmed cases, bringing the total number of infections to 5,923.

Meanwhile, 59 more people have been discharged from hospitals, making the total number of recovered patients to 607.

Authorities have been conducting rapid tests, in areas where cases were detected, and ordering the public to always wear masks, to contain the spread of the virus.– NNN-XINHUA
