Jordan To Bring Home Expats Stranded Abroad

AMMAN, Apr 18 (NNN-PETRA) – Jordan said, it will start a programme soon, to bring home Jordanian students and expatriates, stranded abroad due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jordan’s Finance Minister, Ayman Safadi, said that, a website will be launched, to receive requests from those wishing to return home.

Safadi added that there are currently around 35,000 Jordanian students abroad. Those who wish to return will have to buy plane tickets and accept quarantine upon arrival in Jordan.

Those who return have two options for quarantine; one is to stay at hotels at the Dead Sea, and the second is to stay in a public place, allocated for quarantine. They will have to pay for the stay in any of the places.

The minister added that priority will be given to Jordanians who are staying in countries with high number of COVID-19 infections.

Jordan’s Health Minister, Saad Jaber, said, five new COVID-19 cases were reported in Jordan on Friday, bringing the total number to 407.

He also said that 15 cases of recovery were recorded on Friday.

Jordan’s Minister of State for Media Affairs, Amjad Adaileh, said, a few violations of the curfew were reported on Friday. New measures and instructions will be announced this week for the holy month of Ramadan that starts next week.

Some businesses in several sectors will start gradually resuming their operations in Jordan. However, they need to get permits and work with the lowest number of workers.– NNN-PETRA
