CAIRO, Egypt, Feb 4 (NNN-MENA) – The Egyptian police announced on Sunday, finding an ancient tomb beneath a house near the pyramids of Giza, which belonged to a man, who illegally and secretly dug two trenches to reach the tomb.
“We discovered illegal excavation for antiquities beneath a house that led to an ancient tomb near Giza pyramids plateau,” the Egyptian Interior Ministry said in a statement.
The house is located in the Nazlat as-Samman neighbourhood near the giant Sphinx and the Great Pyramids of Giza.
The resident dug two rectangular trenches leading to two underground rocky chambers, one of which contains six engraved statues on the walls and a damaged pot.
The police busted the house, placed it under guard and detained its 37-year-old resident.– NNN-MENA
