IPOH, April 16 (NNN-BERNAMA) — Some 80 houses and 30 shop lots in the Pasir Pinji area here were damaged during a thunderstorm this evening.
Pasir Pinji state assemblyman Howard Lee Chuan How said many of the properties’ roofs were damaged by strong winds in the 4 pm incident.
“However, we have yet to identify how many residents have been affected and the government has prepared temporary relief centres for victims to take shelter,” he said in a statement here tonight.
Meanwhile, Menteri Besar Perak Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu in a posting on social media, said no injuries were reported in the incident.
Having visited the affected area with Howard, Ahmad Faizal said there were some victims who have been forced to seek shelter with relatives and relief centres.
The Ipoh City Council, with the assistance of voluntary firemen and local residents, have begun clearing fallen branches, the menteri besar said.
