KUALA LUMPUR, March 22 (NNN-BERNAMA) — A mother and her daughter were among the four latest COVID-19 fatalities reported by the Health Ministry Saturday, bringing the death toll in Malaysia to eight so far.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the fifth death involved a 79-year-old Malaysian woman who was admitted to the Borneo Medical Centre in Sarawak on March 16 after she had come down with fever and cough for five days.

He said that on the second day, the woman suffered breathing difficulties but her family did not agree for her to be given respiratory aid.

“She was taken home by the family on March 17 and was confirmed to have died on March 18, 2020. She had contact with two others who were confirmed positive, her son and daughter,” he said in a statement on his Facebook Saturday.

Earlier today, Dr Noor Hisham had announced the fourth death in the country, that of a 50-year-old Malaysian man which was Case 238 from the tabligh cluster.
