U.S. Consulate Employee In Turkey Convicted Of Terror Charges

ANKARA, Turkey, Jan 31 (NNN-AGENCIES) – A Turkish court, on Wednesday, convicted a local employee of the U.S. consulate, of terror charges, then ruled his release for time served, local media said.

Hamza Ulucay, a translator at the U.S. consulate, in the southern province of Adana, was sentenced to four-and-a-half years in jail, for “aiding an armed terror organisation” without being a member, the state-run Anadolu Agency reported.

The court released Ulucay due to time served but placed an international travel ban on him.

Ulucay was detained in Feb, 2017, over alleged links to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), listed as a terrorist organisation by Turkey, the U.S., and EU.– NNN-AGENCIES
