KABUL, Mar 7 (NNN-XINHUA) – At least 31 people, including 29 civilians, were killed and 55 others wounded, in a shooting attack that hit an assembly, in Afghan capital Kabul, on Friday, sources said.
“Two terrorists involved in the Kabul shooting attack were killed by the Crisis Response Unit (CRU) of Afghan National Police, and the clashes are over before Friday evening,” Nasrat Rahimi of Interior Ministry, tweeted.
In the meantime, government Chief Executive, Abdullah Abdullah, who was in the meeting during the firing, told local media that, 29 civilians were killed and 55 wounded in the attack.
The attack occurred when the two gunmen fired machine guns at people gathering at the meeting, that commemorated the death anniversary of Jihadi leader, Abdul Ali Mazari that was held in a sports stadium-like cultural-religious complex in Dashti Barchi, west Kabul.
Those among the victims were women and children.
Most of the politicians and government officials at the gathering, including Abdullah, Chairman of the High Peace Council, Karim Khalili and former President, Hamid Karzai, were unhurt and left the area safely.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
Afghan President, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, described the attack as an inhuman act and condemned the shooting.– NNN-XINHUA
