TOKYO, Feb 22 (NNN-NHK) – Japan and South Korea agreed to hold talks on export control next month, Japan’s Trade Ministry said, on Friday.
The director general-level dialogue between Yoichi Iida, director general of the ministry’s trade control department, and his South Korean counterpart, Lee Ho-hyun, will be held on Mar 10, in Seoul.
The officials are expected to discuss Japan’s tighter export screening on some high-tech materials, as well as, South Korea’s trade controls.
According to Japan’s Trade Ministry, Tokyo wants to consult with Seoul about its progress on the trade control system and related legislation.
The two sides previously met last Dec, for the first time in three-and-a-half years, as both sides look to address a bitter diplomatic row, stemming from a wartime labour dispute, spilling over into trade and security areas.– NNN-NHK
