Erdogan, Macron, Merkel Hold Phone Conversation On Syria, Libya

ISTANBUL, Feb 22 (NNN-ANADOLU) – Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on Friday, discussed the Syrian issue and the crisis in Libya with French President, Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, in a joint phone call, local media reported.

Erdogan said, the “aggression” of the Syrian government and its supporters in Idlib province should be stopped.

On Thursday, two Turkish soldiers were killed and five others wounded in Idlib, as a result of an airstrike, Turkish Defence Ministry announced.

In the past two weeks, 13 Turkish soldiers were killed, during Syrian government forces’ attacks on Idlib.

Erdogan also urged Macron and Merkel for more cooperation, to establish peace, prosperity, and stability in Libya, according to the report.

The Turkish leader received Fayez al-Serraj, head of the Government of National Accord (GNA), at the Dolmabahce Palace in Istanbul on Thursday.

The North African country has been torn by a raging civil war, between the GNA, based in the capital Tripoli and the Libyan National Army with its allies, based in the eastern part of the country.– NNN-ANADOLU
