BAGHDAD, Feb 16 (NNN-NINA) – Up to 10 Daesh militants were killed on Saturday, when Iraqi forces carried out an airdrop operation, on Daesh positions in the Hamrin mountain range, in central Iraq.
Acting on intelligence reports, an airborne force from the Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service (CTS) attacked Daesh positions in the Hamrin mountain range, killing 10 of them and seizing two arms caches and three explosive belts, Sabah al-Numan, spokesman of CTS, said.
“The CTS will continue to carry out operations to pursue the remnants and eliminate any attempt targeting citizens,” al-Numan added.
Despite repeated military operations against Daesh remnants in Iraq, these extremists are still hiding in some rugged areas near the border with Iran and the Hamrin mountain range, that extends through the provinces of Diyala, Salahudin and Kirkuk.– NNN-NINA
